Now Open For Guest Blogging
I’ve been spoiled these past 3-4 months. It was still winter when I began to participate on Ann Smarty’s MyBlogGuest site, a forum for people who want to write articles for placement on other sites.
Guest Blogging
I’m spoiled because during that time I welcomed more than a dozen articles across my network of blogs while I didn’t reciprocate even once. Not that you must exchange 1:1–no one keeps track of that–but you can certainly see where guest blogging can and should be a two way street.
Well, I had planned to start writing for others beginning this month, but I had my first guest article ready last week, so I asked Ann if she wanted it. Ann is very active on Search Engine Journal, but I didn’t expect the article to appear there. I was aware that Ann managed several blogs as I do, figuring she would make room for that article elsewhere.
Lifeless Blog
To my pleasant surprise, Ann ran the article on Search Engine Journal on Monday, which was Memorial Day. That article, “How to Reinvigorate Your Lifeless Blog,” was intended to be published here, but I decided to see if there was interest elsewhere. I’m happy to say that it is getting read, people are leaving comments and, of course, it is receiving its fair share of tweets.
I’m not targeting specific blogs where I plan to share my work. Rather, there are certain topics I have in mind and believe that they would be welcome somewhere. The beauty of MyBlogGuest is that you can ask bloggers who offer relevant blogs if they want your article, obtaining 1-2 backlinks in the author’s resource section. I’m happy with one link, but if there are two, then that’s great.
Guest Benefits
Another reason whey MyBlogGuest is beneficial to what I do and can do likewise for you is that it operates as a central place for people to interact. I prefer to do all my blog exchanging through one site and that is why I signed up and later decided to become a premium member to show my support. I’ve connected with quite a few wonderful people and have enjoyed some nice, fresh traffic as a result of articles I’ve posted.
Hopefully, what I write and share will help my host blogger and perhaps provide a good contact too. The SEO angle is, of course, significant…but connecting with like-minded people can be advantageous too, something that can be realized through a protracted guest writing campaign.
