Do This WP Update TODAY!

Heads up to every blogger who uses WordPress: Release 2.3.3 is out today, an update you should do immediately.

Yes, groan all you want but if I can update 9 WordPress blogs and still get my work done, you can do your one blog and get that task finished within minutes. I’m not saying this to brag, but to prompt you to take action right now.

Here is why the most recent release is so important:

• If you have enabled blog registration, a flaw was found in the XML-RPC implementation whereas a specially crafted request would allow a user to edit posts of other users on that blog. Just think of the damage that could do!

• The WP-forum plugin has a security hole that hasn’t been repaired yet. You’ll need to disable that plug-in until a fix has been made. Read about that problem here.

Finally, as always, it is good practice to regularly update your blog passwords. Why not upload the newest release today and change your password while it is on your mind?
