For Obama, ACORN Is His Badge Of Honor

Barack Obama's involvement with the Association of Community Organizers For Reform Now or ACORN has been given a lot of air time lately. At the center of the ACORN news are voter registration problems, including accounts of voters registering multiple times.

There just may be one thing most Americans agree upon during the current election cycle and that would be that politics can get downright nasty!

Sure, we may point the finger at “the other guy” but if we’re honest with ourselves, we can also find some shenanigans taking place in our own camp. A little truth stretching. Some fact twisting. Perhaps outright lying. Unfortunately, objectivity is often tossed to the wind when it comes time to assessing the practices of our favorite candidates.

Admittedly, when I heard that Barack Obama was involved in community organizing, I didn’t think much of that news one way or another. Later, when I discovered that he was involved with ACORN (Association of Community Organizers For Reform Now), I still wasn’t surprised, given his political stance. After all, Obama has the most liberal voting record of any politician and ACORN fits in perfectly with his philosophy of community activism.

When I recently learned that ACORN was heavily involved with registering people to vote and had been paid $800,000 by the Obama camp to register people to vote, my eyebrows were raised. By the time allegations of voter fraud by ACORN hit the news earlier this month, I began to smell something rotten.

For its part, the Obama camp told CNN that it “is committed to protecting the integrity of the voting process,” and said it has not worked with ACORN during the general election. Yeah, right.

Regardless of where Obama really stands with ACORN right now, his own website proudly boasts of working side by side with ACORN for many years:

When Obama met with ACORN leaders in November, he reminded them of his history with ACORN and his beginnings in Illinois as a Project Vote organizer, a nonprofit focused on voter rights and education.  Senator Obama said, “I come out of a grassroots organizing background. That’s what I did for three and half years before I went to law school.   That’s the reason I moved to Chicago was to organize. So this is something that I know personally, the work you do, the importance of it.  I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career.  Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.

Obama’s involvement with shady characters (e.g., Tony Rezko, Father Flager, William Ayers, Bernadette Dorn, Rev. Wright, etc.) has surfaced from time to time, but he distanced himself from them when the heat was turned up. As with ACORN, Obama seems to be doing just that, but the investigations of voter fraud have only just begun.

It may be too late for the full revelation of Obama’s involvement with ACORN to surface before the election is held, but it should give pause to the electorate to find out more about the man they want to put in office as the leader of the most powerful country in the world.

Then again, judging by people’s obsession with all things Hope, Change, and Believe, the adulation for this man will likely cause them to overlook yet another transgression from Illinois’ junior senator. And that, I fear, could put America in a terrible moral position as the Obamaniacs help to usher in the most leftist agenda ever to be visited upon these United States.
