Kailey, I agree that content kept on one's own site can attract a strong following. Guest posting can be helpful, especially from an SEO point of view as in securing backlinks. Abandoning a blog or website for shared media such as Facebook is not only unwise, but it can result in that content eventually disappearing.

I have always felt that, if I have enough stuff to say to generate content for other peoples blogs/sites (I mean long form content of course), why not put it on my own. I know other guys in my industry are always writing articles on "industry" sites, which I get they are looking for the free advertising, but they aren't doing themselves any favor.

To me, regardless of things changing, if you have enough to say, and what you have to say is good, you will build an audience for your own site/platform.

Just like this one article marketing is never going to go away. I totally agree with the five points mentioned here, with no. 5 being the strongest of them all.

Thanks for sharing.

Chanel, the rules seem to always be changing. I know that keeping your content fresh and monitoring its placement online is essential. Stolen content means someone else is benefiting from all of your hard work. And that isn't good!

Good advice! I tell my customers that their business is only as good as their most recent news. When we fail to keep our customers informed, then we lose out on an opportunity to share what we're doing now. The Internet is all about the NOW, not what was written weeks or months ago.

Vance, without a catchy title you'll miss out on readers and people who might be interested in downloading your article. Your content is important, but your title is the lure to attract your readers.
