Blogus Deletus

Today, I deleted the last of my Blogspot blogs putting an end to one aspect of my blogging history. It was back in the Summer of 2004 I launched my first blog (on Blogspot) and promptly posted one article before quitting. I started and stopped one more blog before I officially threw my hat into the blogosphere in December 2005 with the launch of my The Article Writer WordPress blog.

I’m not going to miss Blogpspot as it wasn’t the blogging platform for me. Originally, you could only host your blogs through Blogspot before parent Google allowed people to host their blogs on their own URLs. Still, Blogspot could never quite match up to WordPress and that became painfully evident every time I wanted to customize Mortgage Paradise, Matt’s Musings, Article Nation, and Auto Phat — the four blogs I maintained for over one year until I darkened them in May 2007.

I waited to delete the blogs until today because I had linking agreements in place through January 31, 2008. Each blog had long since lost its PageRank and the number of visitors — always hard to track — virtually stopped. No sense keeping a blog with rotting links going, therefore I hit the delete key four times this week to say “bye-bye” to Blogspot.

Now if I can only figure out a way to cancel my personal MySpace account!
