Larry, Bit.ly works in conjunction with Twitter no apart from it. Bit.ly shortens the URL, redirects it and offers tracking tools not easily found elsewhere.

You can tweet through it and have a better record of how useful your tweets really are.

I am still unclear about the advantages of using a service like Bit.ly. It almost looks like another version of Twitter.

<a href="#comment-7623" rel="nofollow">@Dominique </a>
Dominique, you have a merry heart! I fixed the lick which I must have put in when I was thinking about taking a bite out of Bit.ly. Go figure.

Anyway, I'll cover some optimization tips in an upcoming article, per your request. :-)

On a serious....just a second....okay, I'm under control now! Could you write a post or two about how to create better links and tag words so one's article's gets more hits.

Okay. Gotta go laugh some more. I don't know why that hit my funny bone so hard!

Good point, John! Sometimes I leave out what I think is the obvious. Obviously, I shouldn't have. :-)

Bit.ly is also good to use because the links are 301 redirected...which means when someone takes your bit.ly link and places it on their website, it counts as a link to your site. More links = better search rankings.

Smart!
