		<description>Larry, that seems like a sensible plan, but you know how that works: the bank would be responsible for whoever lived in these homes (even liable) and I&#039;m sure the town wouldn&#039;t have been too keen on having a homeless community within their borders.

It does seem crazy what they did, but from a business person&#039;s point of view, entirely pragmatic given the local economy and the prospects of making money off of the deal.</description>

I wonder if they thought about taking those homes which were closest to being livable and allowing homeless families to stay in them while they got back on their feet? That would have been a novel idea and even though the homes may not have been completely finished, it would be better than living on the street or under a bridge.</description>
