Maria, that is a good point — privacy is something that we don’t have with GMail as evidenced by the ads served up that match conversation. Plus, since all of our data is housed on Google servers, they can easily rifle through our messages from time to time to see what we’re talking about. Maybe pass that information on to advertisers or even expose it to the government.

I'm honestly more concerned about privacy violations through use of Gmail than I am about the very rare down times. I use Gmail but even if it went down for a few hours every week I don't think that would affect me much at all.
