You don’t have to look far for evidence of the decline of the print medium, as daily newspapers contract by the day, amid other signs.

Ernie, The New York Times tried this model a few years back and it failed.

I subscribe to The Wall Street Journal where I actually have a paper delivered to my home. I also can access it online. At some point the paper version will probably go away and I'll read it strictly online or from some sort of Amazon Kindle device.

Newsprint is so 20th century!

i heard that the newspapers are getting so desperate that they are considering adopting a "pay-per-article-read" model for their online services. this seems like such a stupid move, they are definitely on their way out.

Thanks, Rainier. You got that right: newspapers thrive on bad news, the more the better. No matter what the president says either!

Most successful journalists will make the transition to the internet just fine, but there will likely be a long term need for at least the Sunday newspaper. If not for news at least for cutting coupons and reading the comics!

Surely that means hard times for the newspaper employees... As for the content, there will be more catastrophes, more desaster, more killings than ever to hook customers to buy newspaper. Not very helpful, when hope and positive thinking is demanded.....Happy blogging

You got that right, Gadgeteer. Ultimately, things do change and print media is facing up to their future which most likely will be online. Otherwise, the weak will fold up.
