You are welcome, Deborah. Your blog has actually inspired me to use pictures across my network of blogs, something that my customers seem to appreciate as well.

Proofreading is essential -- I wish more bloggers would do it. I don't take anyone seriously if their blog is full of typographical errors and grammatical mistakes.

Thanks so much for the mention Matt, I'm truly flattered :-)

You make some excellent points. Title is key to instill interest to read an article to begin with.

As far as photos go, I would never consider publishing anything without them; it makes for a more enjoyable read, and numerous images help to maintain reader interest throughout.

I always proofread before uploading the post to the blog. Once all images and formatting are in place, I always preview the post before hitting publish as well. I never fail to find the odd typo or error at that stage. Errors reduce your reader's trust, no matter how slight they may be.

Over-use of widgets on blogs makes me run the other way. I try to keep mine down to a minimum for a quicker load, and to maintain a 'clean' appearance.

Great tips Matt.

You got that right, Barry. Professionalism is the key in that recognizing that blogging is a craft like anything else that we do.

That's a useful checklist, Matthew. For me, the underlying theme here is to be a good craftsperson. In other words make sure you do the blogging thing professionally. Anything less will cause you to lose some of your readers.

Anthony, I certainly can appreciate that! Blogging does take a lot of work including the proofreading of everything that we write. It can be a grueling, but rewarding process.
