Ernesto or Not!

I have my eyes on my computer and my ears tuned into the weather report today. Word has it that Tropical Depression Ernesto may strengthen as it moves off of Florida and into the Atlantic Ocean. With water temperatures of 87 degrees off the coast, this is fuel for further strengthening for a wannabe hurricane. As I live near Raleigh, NC we’ll at least get some heavy rains from the storm no matter how much it strengthens. With a few projects pending, I can’t chance it that I will lose power as the storm moves through. Thus, I am scrambling to get my work done in the event things go kaput tomorrow for a day or two.

Aaaaah…the life of a freelancer!

Google Checkout: One Caveat

Oops, to Google Checkout!

Yesterday, I made mention of the Google Checkout a program, but I failed to realize one thing: you can only use this program if you have tangible items to sell. Thus, if you are like me and you sell a service — in my case resume subscriptions — then you aren’t eligible to use Google Checkout. I should have read Google’s guidelines a little bit closer…

So, I am back to using Paypal until the time I decide to set up an ecommerce site. Since I don’t have any plans for that, I guess I’ll kiss Google Checkout goodbye. Drat!
