PR Gyrations, Take Two

I admit that I check the Google Page Rank for various URLs in my portfolio on a regular basis. Today, I noticed that this blog’s PR started off at 4, went up to a 6, then back to a 5, before settling back down to a 4. The last time I mentioned PR Gyrations Google was in the process of doing one of its big updates and the same thing was happening: PR was all over the place.

You can even do a prediction of what your Page Rank will be once Google updates its information. iWebTool is one of a handful of sites that have a tool to predict future page rank. I don’t know if it is accurate, but it certainly is fun…and distracting!

Out of all of the sites I have managed and administrated on, I have never used Google’s PR. I guess I felt that it isn’t really necessary. I mean, you can’t go off and say “Join my site, its rated PR 5″. The only time it would be useful is when you are trying to sell, which I would never be in a position to do, at least not now. I just let things go the way they are, and if my website is lacking in visitors, I will try to add something new to attract them.
