The Article Writer: One Year Later

This time last year I launched the web site that goes along with this blog. Only six weeks earlier than that time had I begun my article submission quest through EzineArticles.com; I decided that I needed a site where I could house some of my articles, hence The Article Writer was born.

Prior to May 2005 I owned and managed several sites, but none were dedicated to what I do as a wordsmith: write articles, create web content, offer copywriting services, craft press releases, and more.

This particular blog only came about in early December 2005. I blogged minimally before that time, usually on someone else’s site. Instead of being a simply blog contributor I thought about becoming a blog manager, thus The Article Writer. This past March I added a second blog, The Auto Writer, to house most of my current articles about the automotive industry.

I want to thank each and every customer who has found me through this site. Over the past year my business has skyrocketed as people discovered me, what I do, and what I can do for them; yes, my motto still is: “your success is my success”. Starting www.thearticlewriter.com was the best move I made since launching my business way back in November 2002.

I would also like to thank each of you who stops by regularly for a visit. Many visitors are fellow writers or people simply looking to jump in on the article marketing bandwagon. Hopefully, I have contributed my part to help make this exciting thing we call the “world wide web” a better place. I know that many of you certainly have so I thank you for your inspiration as well.

Holi-dazed!

Working for oneself can be a terrific thing especially for the person who likes to control their own time, their own projects, their own business. After 3 1/2 years of self employment, I can emphatically say that I would never want to go back to the “ole days” of working for a company.

Self employment doesn’t mean you automatically take off every single holiday nor does it mean long weekends off throughout the summer months. It can for some folks, but for the majority of us it is business as usual when certain holidays pop up.

This coming Monday is Memorial Day and I will be at my computer working. I am doing this by choice as I plan on taking some time off during the work week at a later date; by working on Monday it will allow me to move some of my work around. Besides, there is no such thing as a “paid holiday” when it comes to self employment!

Then again, if I finish my work up quickly or if it is especially hot outside, I just may fire up the grille and cook a few burgers for my wife and kids just like so many of my fellow Americans will be doing.

Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and don’t forget about the veterans and folks in service to our country. Thanks to those who defend freedom [and God] I can choose whether to work on a particular day or not. For that option I am most grateful.
