Some Software Updates Stink!

I am learning NOT to go with every single software update when they are released. Sometimes the updates cause more problems than they correct.

Specifically, I noticed that when I updated my Jet Movements blog, my dashboard under the WordPress 2.0 update left out some of the tags. Even after I did a “curative” patch, the problem has persisted. Not so for The Auto Writer which I downloaded in 2.0 from the get go; no problems there and no problems with this blog as I stayed put with WordPress 1.5

The same can be said for Firefox. The browser worked great under 1.0 but with 1.5 I have been miserable. The browser isn’t as quick as it used to be and the Google page rank toolbar is flakey: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

The lesson learned here? Hold back on some updates until the bugs have been worked out. The newfangled version may be promising, but it can quickly become a nightmare and I, for one, don’t have the time to spend hunting down and fixing problems.
