C.S. Lewis
I am currently reading C.S. Lewis’ book, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.” Many of you may know that the movie, Narnia, is currently in theatres and “The Lion…” is one of seven books that comprise Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia series.
Lewis was an extraordinary man and gifted writer who lived in England. A long time bachelor, Lewis met and later married a divorcee by the name of Helen Joy Davidman, a Jew who gave her life to Jesus Christ after reading C.S. Lewis’ apologetics.
During the 1980s, a BBC production of a movie based on C.S. Lewis’ novel, Shadowlands, was released. Later, in the 1990s, a Hollywood version of Shadowlands was also released which starred Anthony Hopkins as Jack [C.S.' nickname] and Debra Winger as Joy Gresham [nee Davidman].
The British version was more accurate than the Hollywood version, but either one can give you a better idea of the man behind the Chronicles of Narnia. So, if you like to rent movies and haven’t seen Shadowlands, I strongly recommend it. I’ll share my comments about the book later this month.
